Osho Zen Tarot: COMPARISON

Osho Zen Tarot: COMPARISON

Comparison breeds superiority and humiliation.

When you stop comparing, all supremacy and humiliation disappear. Then you simply are, you simply exist. Whether it is a small bush or a large tall tree – it does not matter. You are you. You are needed. A blade of grass is as important as the biggest brightest star. Without a blade of grass, God will be less than he is. A cuckoo’s song is as important as any Buddha; the world will be smaller, it will be poorer if this cuckoo bird disappears. Just look around you! Everything is needed and important. Everything around us depends on each other. This is organic unity: nobody is higher, nobody is lower, nobody is adored and nobody is humiliated. Everyone is unique without any comparison.

Whoever told you that bamboo is more beautiful than an oak tree, or that an oak tree is more valuable than bamboo? Do you think the oak tree would like to have an empty trunk like bamboo? Does bamboo envy the oak tree because the oak is larger and its leaves change color in the fall? The very idea that trees compare themselves to each other seems silly, of course, but we humans seem to believe that this habit is too hard to get rid of.

Let'slook around – there will always be someone who is more beautiful, more talented, stronger, smarter, or clearly happier than you. And, vice versa, there will always be people, who are worse off than you. The way to find out who you really are is not to compare yourself with other people, but understanding whether you are realizing your potential in the best way possible.
